And we're off....!

MOOCHING WEST!!!! JACKSON OR BUST!

Nov 1, 2007: The start of our adventure west! We finished packing/craming the last of what would fit at 2:15am. The alarm went off at 5:45 and by 6:30 we were passing through downtown saying our last goodbye's. Ready to start Day 1!

Man was she packed!

Which road do we take again? Hmmmm...

3 states down! We're getting closer!!!

Having a little fun on the road with some good music!

Mooch Stop Number 1! Miya's, a highschool friend, in Dallas Texas. We stayed there for the first night. Here we are saying goodbye at 6am and getting ready for Day 2!

Mooch Stop Number 2 and the end of day 2...somewhere near Gallop New Mexico, recommended by the nice visitor center man. We drove 14 1/2 hours from Dallas then camped outside of AZ so we could hit the Petrified Forest the next morning. The end to a long day on the road. This was our first of 3 nights camping. Next stop....

Day 3

THE PETRIFIED FOREST AND THE GRAND CANYON!!!Waiting on the park to open.

These were some of the views from in the park. This was the Painted Desert.

Next stop...The Grand Canyon!

Despite some camera issues :( we still had a great time!

Dinner each night of camping was cold soup. I've never eaten anything so delicious! This was the highlight of each night. Thanks mom!

Getting ready for bed. We had to stay warm.

Sleeping any way you can. The end of a good day.

Day 4!

Getting out of bed to watch the sun rise at Lake Powell in Glen Canyon.

Sunrise....

Lake Powell

Rach paying her speeding ticket in Kanab Utah. We didn't know Fiona (the car) could go that fast! We also didn't know that we were in Utah until the police officer walked up with a Utah State Patrol Badge....welcome to Utah.

Zion National Park.....One of my absolute favorite places!

The only way I can describe this place is by saying The Land Before Time. I think the movie was inspired by the scenery here!

The start of our hike to Angel's Landing.

We hiked that! It was straight down on each side.

View from the top.

What a good day! On to the next stop....

Kolob Canyons

Making good use of their facilities and getting ready for bed.

Another great sunset. Getting ready for Day 5!

Day 5. Driving through Cedar Breaks on the way to Bryce Canyon and to visit Jamie in Duchsene Utah.

Great views but Fiona was struggling with the climb to 10,000 elevation.

Welcome to Bryce! The Queen in Queen's Garden

Slot canyons on the Wallstreet hike.

What a hike. It was a combination of amazing scenery and beautiful, bright colors. I can't begin to describe the gold and orange colors coming from the rock as the sun hit them. You have to see it for yourself.

Next stop...Jamie's!!!

Jamie has dred's! So much fun hanging out!

The last Mooch Stop on Day 5. This is a few of the people that work on the fire crew with him. We had beds and showers and these amazing people cooked us warm food! We ate so much we couldn't move. It was a good end to our last night of the road trip. Next stop Jackson Hole WY....HOME!

Our daily ritual, keeping track of everything we've been so fortunate to see and do!

We finally made it. Thanks to Megan everyone came to welcome us home. We cooked out and introduced Rachael to everyone. If feels good to be back and be surrounded by so many unique and fun people.

Welcome to Jackson!

Thank you so much to everyone that helped us make it out here. I hope that you enjoy the pictures and some of the places that we have been. Keep checking the blog because I will definitely keep everyone updated! Thanks for your support, I love and miss all of you.

I miss you. I am so glad to see you getting to do all of this. I will take your word about how pretty it is though because I am not sure that I will ever be up for cold soup and a physically strinuous day. The pictures are amazing. Now that you have done that have you got your fix? I'm Kidding. Be careful and I can't wait to see you and catch up.
